GIRLSTART BRINGS MORE THAN 300 MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS TO UT
FOR EXPANDING YOUR HORIZONS
Workshop to showcase math, science and tech careers for Central Texas girls
(AUSTIN) - Girlstart, the Austin-based non-profit educational organization dedicated to
helping girls learn and love math, science, and technology, is hosting the
Expanding Your Horizons workshop for more than 300 middle-school students
from across Central Texas this coming Saturday.
The day-long event, part of a nationwide series of events designed to give girls
more information about math, science, and technology career possibilities, will
include 35 different hands-on workshops led by women scientists,
mathematicians, engineers and more.
ABOUT GIRLSTART
Girlstart is a non-profit organization created to educate and empower girls in math, science and technology. Founded in 1997 in Austin, Texas, Girlstart has an enviable record of engaging, educating, and motivating girls to enjoy and become more proficient in mathematics and science in elementary school, middle school, and beyond. Child Magazine named the organization one of the top five programs for girls across the country. Girlstart offers a variety of educational formats designed for girls ages 9-15 through after-school programs, Saturday camps, and summer day camps. Girlstart serves a population that includes at-risk and minority girls.
